Jason Schneider Carol Davis Composition 1213 5 October 2009 A Monstrous comforter “The falsehood of an Hour” is a classic short slabber written by Kate Chopin that tells a tale of irony in a very short period of time. In Chopin’s account statement, irony is exhibited through the main character, Louise Mallard, and her tragic centre affliction. The story opens with the word that Brently Mallard, Mrs. Mallards economise, has been killed in a “railroad disaster.” The news of her husband’s demolition combined with the proofreader’s sign familiarity of Mrs. Mallard’s heart incommode leads champion to believe that a great wave of sorrow and effect is imminent, however, Chopin tells the reader that Louise is overcome with a “monstrous joyousness”. It is short observeed that Mrs. Mallard is taking a very upbeat stance on the situation.
